GREER....unknown, but suspect Abraham. Son known to have been born in Gallaten Co., Ills, 1830. However, family names appear in White County. Known facts: Abraham Greer married Peggy KINNEY in Williamson Co. Tenn 1825. Family History states family in Ills, moved to Tenn in 1834. Research proves family first in Tenn. Francis Marion GREER is listed in the house of Margaret GREER in Morehouse Parish, La. in the 1850 census along with brother, William M. (Marshall) GREER, who is shown to be born abt. 1826 in Tenn. Possible that father of family, the Abraham listed, died in Ills?? Peggy/Margaret return to Tenn. to be with her family? Need Probate records for White Co., Ills time period 1832 or so, or, I get lucky, a will? This family is "believed" to be from the line of Aquilla GREER, Jr, thru his son Asa, who married Rebecca Neighbors....God Bless, Annette at earphoto@gonetgo.com Dinuba, California

I am looking for information on the ancestors or descendents of Isaac MORRIS (Dec 27, 1851-Abt. 1914). He was married to Emmeline Webber on December 11, 1875 in White Co., IL. She died Feb 24, 1908. They had three children who all died young. They are all buried at Seal's Chapel Cemetery. According to the papers for the administration of his estate, he must have had six siblings. The two that I know of are Shelton MORRIS and Charles MORRIS. Shelton Morris was my g-g-grandfather. He was married to Susan LEE. They had two children: Cora B and Mary Ellen. Cora was married to John Parks, James F Douthitt, and Robert Brooks. She apparently disappeared sometime after 1915. Mary Ellen Morris married Marion FRYMIRE. Charles Morris was married at least three times: Emaline Williams, Sarah E Lacy, and Nancy Causley. The 1900 Census lists him with three children: Shelton Morris (b.Jan 1878), Isaac Morris (b.Mar 1882), and Mary Morris (b.June 1884). Isaac Morris' (the older) papers listed Charles' children as Shelton, Isaac, Pearl, and Ida. The papers for Isaac's estate names the other following neices and nephews: John FRAZIER, Ellen MILLER, John MORRIS, Alice KINGERY, Rose JOHNSON, Lucinda BRYAN, Sarah COLLINS, Cora JACQUISH. According to the 1850 Cardwell Co., KY census, siblings are: Nancy, Sally, Mahala, Jas H., Aden, and Thomas. Robert Mack is on the 1860 Cardwell Co., KY census with only his mother and two brothers, Ayden (sic) and Isaih. He next shows up on the Union Co., KY 1870 census at Thomas' place. Their Children: Charles, Bertha, Dorthy May, and Frieda. The SSN application for Dorthy May indicates she was born at Broughton, White Co., Illinois on 11 Jan 1898. The family moved to Arkansas, maybe without Robert Mack, to the Reyno/White River Area. Later moved to Hyman, Missouri in New Madrid County. Read with interest a post of obits originally appearing in the Carmi Times or Carmi Dollar Courier. Specifically, I noted the following: 1892 Nov 30 Morgan Bryant, an illiterate old farmer of Edwards County, died recently. He had stashed away in an old trunk $54,000 in cash. First, Morgan Bryant was father-in-law of my greatgreatgrandfather's brother, James R. McDaniel. Morgan was not illiterate. I have copy of his note giving permission for his daughter, Sarah Elizabeth, to marry James McDaniel in Shelby Co IL (where the family lived most of the time). There is also an obit of Morgan in the Shelby Co Democrat. Makes no mention of $54,000, although he was known to be well off--probably through land purchases. He had no connection to White Co that I know of, but just in case--father believed to be Charles Bryan. He was born Owen Co KY and married 1) Malinda Eaton and 2) Urana Madden. Sisters were Nancy who married William Bennett in Fayette Co KY and possibly Permelia who married William S. King. He lived for a time in Indiana before coming to Illinois. I have a list of Morgan's children and some of his descendants. I also have direct McDaniel and King lines. Will share info freely. SHERRY
