Chauncey "Chick" W. Young

     Chauncey "Chick" W. Young, 83 of Norris City, died Saturday morning June 10, 2000 at his home.

     He was born October 30, 1916 in White County, the son of Edward and Mae (Beard) Young.  He was married to Lois Short on October 1, 1944 in Eldorado, and she survives.  He was raised in the South family home from the age of 12.

     He was a retired farmer.  He was also a WWII Army veteran.  He belonged to the Carmi VFW Post #3851 and American Legion Post #224.  He received his 50 year membership pin in 2000 from the VFW.

     Also surviving is one son and daughter-in-law, James W. and Becky Young of Enfield; two grandchildren, Dustin and Cassie Young; members of the South family, Bill South and Jack South of Enfield, Frances York of Carmi and Stan South of Johnston City.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Ed Young and three sisters, Mabel Abbey, Irene West and Ruby Allison.

     Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2000 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Norris City with Rev. Mike Buckman officiating.  Burial will be in West Union Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2000 at the funeral home.


Donald W. Youngman

Donald W. Youngman, 82, of Maunie, died Sunday morning, July 23, 2000 at White County Hospital.

He was born December 10, 1917 in Mt. Carmel, the son of Clarence and Mary (Gupton) Youngman. He married Kathryn Hurst on March 30, 1940 in Morganfield, KY and she survives.

He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Carol & Bill Pollard and Donna Evans, of Maunie; a sister, Lucille Waterman of North Ridge, CA; six grandchildren, William & Donna Pollard, Donnie & Theresa Pollard, Allen Rowe, Michael & Rajeanna Rowe, Christal & Marcus Youngman, all of Maunie, and Rebecca Jones of Herald; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Richard and Howard Youngman, and 2 sisters, Mary Esther Youngman, and an infant sister.

Mr. Youngman was a WWII Navy Veteran. He was a retired Gravel Pumper with Shine-Aldredge.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday July 26, 2000 at the Kittinger-Fair Funeral Home in Carmi with burial in Concord Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday July 25, 2000 at the funeral home.
