Marguerite G. Etienne

    Marguerite G. Etienne, 84, of Enfield, died Monday evening February 21, 2000 at the Enfield Healthcare Center.

    She worked at the sewing factory.  She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Enfield and the Altar Society.

    She was born November 15, 1915 in McLeansboro, the daughter of Lawrence Patrick and Margaret (Coleman) Dolan.

    She married Victor Etienne June 21, 1938 in Enfield, and he preceded her in death April 13, 1981.

    She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Rosemarie and Thomas Travers of Aurora, CO, and Ruth Ann and Thomas Repoff of Sprakers, NY; one grandchild, Heather Simmons of Creal Springs; two great-grandchildren, Amanda and Aaron Travers; and one sister, Anna Louis Deom of Springerton.

    She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 24, 2000 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Enfield, with burial in the church cemetery.  Visitations will be from 5-8  p.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2000 at the Elledge Funeral Home in Enfield, with rosary recited at 7 p.m.


Wallace Fern "Tom" Egbert, Sr.

     Wallace Fern "Tom" Egbert, Sr., 73, of Carmi, died Sunday morning June 11, 2000 at the Health South Tri-State Rehab Center in Evansville.

     He was born June 11, 1927, in St. Clair County the son of Leslie and Glena (Uhles) Egbert.  He married Sarah McDaniel on July 4, 1940 in East St. Louis and she survives.

     He was retired after 33 years with labor Local 561 of Evansville.

     Also surviving are 7 sons and their wives, Wallace (Wally) and Maryann Egbert of Okawville, IL, William (Bill) and Anna Egbert, Charles (Larry) and Brenda Egbert, Mike (Spud) and Kim Egbert, and Edward (Eddie) and Vickie Egbert all of Carmi; 3 daughters and their husbands, Carol and Van Nylor of Hillsboro, IL, Glena & Delbert Kelley of Evansville and Betty Beets of Carmi; 32 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers Richard and Mary Egbert of Millstadt, IL and John P (Jack) and Sharon Egbert of Fairfield, CA, 1 sister Emma Ruth and Leroy Roethemeier of Venice, FL; 2 sisters-in-law Wilma Egbert of French Village, IL and Neome Egbert of Elkhart, IN and 1 lifelong companion, his pug dog "Sugar".  he was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.

     Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2000 at the Kittinger-Fair Funeral Home in Carmi.  Burial will be in Stokes Chapel Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2000 at the funeral home.


Nettie J. Mick Ellzey

Nettie J. Mick Ellzey, 70 of Carmi, died Friday morning September 8, 2000 at the Wabash Christian Retirement Center. She was born August 1, 1930 in Maunie the daughter of Fred A. and Rachel (Kimbrell) Mick.
 
She had been married to Ben Ellzey.

She is survived by one son, Larry Ellzey of Houston, TX; one sister, Mary Beth Pollard of Carmi; one brother, Arthur A. Mick of Carmi, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred F. Mick, and Paul E. Mick, and four sisters, Zola Brashier, Deanie Brown, Alice Thomas, and Betty Williams.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday September 10, 2000 at North Maple Ridge Cemetery. No visitation will be held. The Kittinger-Fair Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.



Clifford E. Edwards

Clifford E. Edwards, 82 of Ft. Meyers, FL died Thursday night in Ft. Meyers. He was born February 15, 1919 in Carmi the son of Edgar and Pearl (Noble) Edwards. He married LaVere Biggerstaff on December 19, 1941 in Charleston, Missouri and she survives.

Mr. Edwards was a retired Rural Letter Carrier. He was the state president of the Illinois Rural Letter Carriers Association and held various other offices for 11 years. He was national president of the Rural Letter Carriers Association and held various other offices for 11 years. He was a WWII veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a longtime member of the Enfield Masonic Lodge, having served as Master and an honorary member of the Carmi Masonic Lodge. He was the present Worthey Patron of the Eastern Star. He was a longtime active member of the Enfield United Methodist Church.

Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife LaVere; one son, Kelly Edwards of McLean, Virginia, a sister-in-law, Lanelle Edwards of Enfield, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Max and Wanda Apple of Enfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Chelsea Edwards, and a nephew, Gary Edwards.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday March 27, 2001 at the Kittinger-Fair Funeral Home in Carmi with burial in Enfield Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the combined veteran units. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday March 26, 2001 at Kittinger-Fair. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Enfield Senior Citizens, or the Hospice in care of the funeral home.


Stella Mae Edman

Stella Mae Edman, 91, of Carmi, died Wednesday morning, October 17, 2001 at the Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born September 17, 1910 in Mt. Carmel, the daughter of Benjamin and Alpha (Smith) Chilton. She married Frank Stroup "Babe" Edman on May 24, 1933 in Carmi and he preceded her in death in 1983.

Mrs. Edman was a Dietary worker at the Carmi Township Hospital before her retirement, though her most loved profession was being the best grandmother in the whole world. She was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Frances and James Kelley of Evansville, four grandchildren and their spouses, Angela and Brad Roe, Sherri and Brett Ward, Julie Edman and Kenneth Edman all of Carmi, four great-grandchildren, Cassandra Ward, Mitch Roe, Danielle Edman and Tess Edman, and one daughter-in-law, Ann Edman of Carmi; she was preceded in death by three sons, Frank Eugene, Ivan Edward and Donald Ray Edman and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2001 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Carmi. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2001 at the Kittinger-Fair Funeral Home in Carmi and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Stokes Chapel Cemetery in Crossville.


Doris Paula Edmunds

Doris Paula Edmunds, 64 of Friendsville, Tennessee and formerly of rural Norris City, Illinois died Saturday afternoon December 15, 2001 at her home in Friendsville.

She was born September 17, 1937 in Jerseyville, Illinois the daughter of Paul and Virginia Berthoux. She married Gerald W. "Gerry" Edmunds on October 25, 1958 and he preceded her in death on May 3, 1997.

Mrs. Edmunds was a graduate of Alton Memorial School of Nursing, in Alton, IL. She worked at various hospitals in the Alton area, and later worked for Dr. Jean Samaan in Houston, TX. She is dearly missed by all those that knew her, and in our hearts we know she is at peace with Gerry, David and God.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Paula Jill and Marion T. Moore, two granddaughters, Virginia Lynn Moore and Mary Elizabeth Moore all of Friendsville, TN; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Duane and Ann Berthoux of Fairfield, CA, Dann Berthoux of St. Louis, Mo and Kate Berthoux of Springfield, IL; one sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Philip Shelton of Yardley, PA; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and Paul Johns of Herald, IL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, David W. Edmunds and two brothers, Darel and Dale Berthoux.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday December 19, 2001 at the Union Ridge Presbyterian Church near New Haven with Rev. Creighton Hampton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, Boy Scouts of America, American Heart Association or your favorite charities in care of the Kittinger-Fair Funeral Home, 200 S. Walnut, Carmi, IL 62821.
